If your mic isn't working

Windows

Open Settings, then System, then Sound. Under Input, choose your microphone and check the volume. Under Privacy & security, then Microphone, make sure apps and desktop apps are allowed.

Mac

Open System Settings, then Sound, then Input, and choose your microphone. Under Privacy & Security, then Microphone, turn on your browser.

iPhone and Android

Allow the microphone for this site when your browser asks. If you blocked it, change it in the browser's site settings, then reload.

Why is my microphone not working?+

Most often the browser or system has blocked it, another app is using it, or the wrong microphone is selected. The test shows which one and how to fix it.

Is my recording saved?+

No. The 5-second clip stays in your browser so you can play it back, and it is gone when you leave the page.

How do I pick a different microphone?+

After you start the test, choose one from the Microphone list. On phones the browser picks the mic for you.
